Park Bench

I am excited to be working on a new musical with a collaborator of mine for many years, Gary Gimmestad. Gary and I met several years ago in the Minneapolis company of “Forever Plaid.” Soon he was writing vocal arrangements for a vocal group I produced and from there we continued to work together on various projects. Gary music directed my first CD, “I’m Wishing” and a couple years ago we co-wrote some songs for Three Cat Productions “Hang Your Hat at Mr. Kelly’s.” This spring, a new musical, “Park Bench” will be produced by Three Cat. This has a been a long time goal for Gary and I. Gary will be composing the musical score and writing lyrics and I will be providing the script.

I’ll keep you posted as the process continues.

The Green Mill

Every Thursday night you can re-visit the past and feel like you are in Chicago circa 1939. The Green Mill has tons of history connected to it and it’s one of my favorite places in the city.

Singing with David Sherman and Amanda Wolff

Join me along with Amanda Wolff, David Sherman, Matt Lewis, Rugani and the The Alan Gresik Swingshift Orchestra!

All the songs the band performs are original charts from the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. Bandleader Alan Gresik has access to the vast collection of arrangements at the Chicago Public Library. These arrangements were used on local radio shows back in the 1930’s, played by their “house” band. Alan told me that in some cases, the arrangements were still in their unopened cellophane wrappers. So its possible that some of these old arrangements are being heard for the first time.

One of my favorites is this version of Irving Berlins “Let Yourself Go.”

Cabaret on the Lake

For ten years, Three Cat Productions has produced a variety of Cabaret and Concert shows. Currently they present “Cabaret on the Lake” hosted by Rob Dorn at the Berger Park mansion in Berger Park at the corner of Sheridan and Granville in the Edgewater neighborhood. The show is aptly titled as it is directly on Lake Michigan with a lovely view!

Cabaret on the Lake is more than just a musical program, the show features storytelling, comedians and more. Performances are the second Friday of every month. Visit the Three Cat website for more information and upcoming guests.
